Artist Statement
My work is inspired by a love of color, independent spirit and the natural world. I create vibrant abstract acrylic paintings, multimedia collages, and photographs that explore the beauty found in spontaneous moments and shifting landscapes. I’m drawn to the ways that color, texture, and movement can express emotion beyond words.
Many of my collages and paintings incorporate photographs from my travels, while others draw from the impressions and memories those journeys leave behind. Each piece becomes a reflection of spontaneity and balance.
As a biracial woman, I am deeply drawn to the tension and harmony between seemingly different elements—how contrast can lead to cohesion, and how new forms emerge from unexpected combinations. This curiosity extends to my engagement with Black and feminist histories, especially the legacy of resistance and radical imagination. I explore how identities, ideas, and aesthetics evolve—and how society’s acceptance of these transformations shifts over time.
Street and pop art motivate me, and through layered textures, shapes, and bold palettes, I hope to honor those who have challenged systems and carved new paths toward liberation. I aim to evoke a sense of joy, curiosity, and wonder while reflecting on resilience, freedom, and the beauty of self-expression.
